The Montessori School of Redding was founded for parents seeking a quality educational opportunity for their children. We have programs for  3 - 6 years olds including preschool, transitional kindergarten and kindergarten.  We are a non-discriminatory, non-sectarian school, with a Montessori certified Head teacher and an assistant who has also attended Montessori training.

The Montessori School of Redding follows the Montessori Method of Education.  This method stresses individualized learning at the child's pace, independence, and respect for self, others and the environment.  The classroom is equipped with Montessori materials, along with a wide variety of other educational equipment.  The day is fluid, blending presentations of materials and individual work with small group activities.  Music, art and movement are integral parts of our program. Time for outdoor activities to facilitate gross motor and muscle development is a part of our curriculum daily.

Children attend our program 5 days a week.  We offer a classic morning program that meets from 8:30am to 11:30am.  We also offer a lunch program from 11:30am to 12:30pm and an extended day program from 12:30pm - 1:30pm.  The Montessori classroom experience is scheduled five days a week in order to allow the spontaneous learning of the child to flow smoothly.  The program begins in September and continues through early June, approximately following the calender of the Redding Public Schools.

The staff encourages parent involvement through observations, conferences, discussions, and volunteering in the classroom.

Admission to the Program:  Parents are invited to schedule an observation in the classroom between January and June.  This observation gives parents a chance to meet the staff, explore the classroom and help choose the right preschool for their child.  After a parent observation, we invite parents to bring their child to the classroom to meet the staff and see the classroom.  All parents of prospective students must complete an application form and return it to the school with a non-refundable application fee of $25.00 to begin the admission process.  Contracts are sent to parents starting in February and they are due back to the school with a non-refundable deposit to hold a slot for the student in September.
